Chairs for the Mobile reflexologist

The favourite chair for mobile therapists has got to be the Lafuma RSX Reclining Armchair  . It's light, easy to transport, quick to setup and is very comfortable for your client.
The RSX model has a steel frame and a slightly padded cloth seat suspended by elastic cords to give a hammock like comfort for your client. Suitable for clients up to 20stone in weight.   The chairs are offered in marine or forest green (illustrated) and many accessories are available e.g Lafuma RSX Towel - Cream and Lafuma Chair Replacement Elastic Cord in a variety of colours.  It is possible to find similar chairs at a price saving, I have one myself, but I think that the Lafuma offers the best value, quality and comfort for the mobile therapist.

Chairs for the smaller clinic

The Patterson Relaxator is a stylish, very comfortable chair.  It is possible to use it as a mobile chair as there is a carry bag available. However I find it isnt really practical as a mobile chair due to the width of the carry bag (it's arround 9 to 10inches) and the difficulty this causes when manouvering the chair through narrow doorways.  It would probably help if I lost a couple of stones in weight but the combination of carry case width and my girth is just too much of a tight squeeze for many modern home doorways. As with the Lafuma chair above there are a variety of accessories available e.g  removable covers in different colourways also a wheeled transporter which you pop the chair in. This is worth trying if you have one of these chairs.  Most suitable for a non-clinical environment the chair can also be adjusted to recline to different positions but this must be done before the clients sits in it. It is very comfortable to sit in but it may be difficult for elderly or less mobile clients to get in and out of easily.

Chairs for the larger clinic or practice.

For more clinical settings of course a different type of couch or chair is needed. As well as being robust these couches or recliners are suitably clinical in appearance with a durable and easily cleaned surface. There are also electrical and hydraulic models available which is especially useful in a busy practice where many different therapists use the same couch. This enables the therapist to set the chair easily to the correct working height.
So when your practice is well established, or if you are setting up a in a spa setting, or if you also provide holistic massage, aromatherapy massage or sports massage as well as reflexology then you will need a more robust couch or chair.
Obviously these chairs are more expensive but can be expected to last for many years. Take a look at some of the models in the ad on the left. Bookmark this page and come back often if you're thinking of purchasing one of the larger more expensive chairs from  Physio Supplies Ltd  as they often have special offers available. Detials will be displayed as I get them.

Hand Hygiene

It is absolutely vital that as therapists we take great care with hand hygiene. It seems like such a long time ago that everyone was worrying about swine flu but hand hygiene is very important at all times.
